CHAIRMAN
Chris was born in Worcester Park and was educated at Wimbledon College Preparatory School and Hove Grammar School. He took a degree in Economics at the LSE and has spent his working life in the Container Shipping industry working for American Belgium and Japanese Companies at senior level. He has lived abroad in the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy and was the Container Shipping Industry’s representative to the EU.  In addition he has held a number of non-executive roles including the Trinity House Light house.  Since retirement he has been chair of St Joseph’s Hospice Hackney and Street Child Africa. He married Carole and she after a career in Education is now a Church of England minister: they have two children - a son who is a doctor in New Zealand and a daughter who runs the Chichester Festival Theatre. They have seven granddaughters.  His passion is travel and the theatre.

LEAD FOR HOLY NAME
Alan has been an active member of our Parish for over 30 years, having moved to Esher in 1992.   He currently chairs the Parish Community & Charities Team, is a member of the Holy Name choir, and is a reader at the Sunday 9.00am mass.   Alan’s also a Governor at St. Paul’s Catholic Primary School, and the Treasurer of the School Governors’ Fund.   He’s married to Laraine, a fellow choir-member, and they have a son Gregory who married at Holy Name a couple of years ago and now lives in Claygate with his young family.   In his professional life, Alan’s a qualified lawyer from Edinburgh who made a switch to investment banking, and he’s now spent almost 40 years working for international banks in London, Amsterdam and New York, so he brings experience in areas such as finance, risk management and programme management to his role as the Holy Name representative on the Parish Pastoral Committee.

LEAD FOR OLOL
Karen started worshipping at Our Lady of Lourdes in 2007.   She has two boys who both attended St Paul’s School before joining Salesian.  She was an active member of SPPA and helped organise lots of fundraising events during her children’s time at St Paul’s. Before that she was also involved with many other Women of the Parish in Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s Group organising Community and fundraising events.  Heavily influenced by her Mum who still has a very active role in her Church community in Whitton at 82 years young!  Karen sings with the Songbirds choir and enjoys getting the community together for good causes and looking out to help those within and beyond our Parish.  For her day job Karen is a Town Planner and has held private and public sector roles. She has her own Company Surrey Planning and Design. She’s just taken up Women’s Cricket at Thames Ditton Cricket Club which is going very well.

FINANCE
Michael moved to Esher and the Church of The Holy Name in May 1994. Michael has been on The Parish Finance Committee as the Parish Treasurer for more than twenty years and he is now the Treasurer of the Holy Family Parish. Michael, a Chartered Accountant, runs his own accountancy and taxation practice.  Michael has been fortunate enough to be married for 39 years to Shelagh a retired Chartered Surveyor. They have two sons and a daughter who were educated at St Elizabeth’s Catholic Primary School in Richmond and then at Tiffin Grammar Schools in Kingston. Michael was a School Governor and Chair of the PTA at his children’s primary school. He was also Treasurer and a team manager for fourteen years at Claygate Royals Football Club. Michael joined the Grandfather’s Club in October 2022, a role that he thoroughly enjoys. Relaxation is taken by playing golf regularly at the RAC Club in Epsom. Together with his two sons he has been a Chelsea season ticket holder for many, many years.
